One of the best tools that come with a Google My Business (GMB) listing is Insights.

How To Interpret Google My Business (Gmb) Insights

Your GMB listing is one of the first discoveries that local customers make about your business. It is an analytical tool that assigns your marketing efforts, understands online and offline traffic, and compares your business to similar companies. People can find your company listing by searching for your name and location

Google My Business - eGuide  series

For companies with a location for Google ad accounts, an extension can be added to the custom Google My Business entry when the user clicks the extension. When the company appears as an ad listing in a pack of 3, it counts for 2 search results in Google my Business Insights. When a user clicks on an ad in a pack of 3, they are added to the Google Business list.

Another way to track Google Ad Data alongside regular organic data in GMB Insights is to add a call tracking number to the Google Ad Location Extension field in Google My Business Dashboard so you can track calls and ads.

It is important to set the UTM parameter for linking to Google My Business to allow a more detailed look at the actions of your customers in your ad. It also allows you to compare your user-generated content (such as your photo gallery) with your competitors.

Google My Business Insights gives you detailed insight into how often people find your business through a list of local searches. When you click on the Insights tab on your Google My Business Profile, you will see data about how often you have been discovered by the search and how often customers have viewed your business on Google.

Insights gives you a behind-the-scenes look at how your customers interact with your GMB advert. One of the first data points in the Insights panel is located on your GMM dashboard and is offered to customers looking for your business.

Google my Business  gives business owners an insight into how often their customers come across traditional Google searches as well as searches on Google Maps.

This data point tracks 3 types of ways customers can interact with your GMB listing. It shows the total number of calls made by your company to your GMB listing in the past time period, sorted by week, month and quarter. It also highlights the time each area is displayed on the map, broken down by individual zip codes, so customers can request directions to your business.

From Insight section .  you will find information about the time of day at which potential customers call your company about your GMB listing and your frequency. You can sort the data by day of the week and time of day and identify peak and troughs in activity to better understand the behavior and trends of your customers. This section of your Insights dashboard separates the days when most calls were made from the times of day they were made.

The last two sections of Google My Business Insights cover photos of your listings and how you can compare them with other companies.

Direct impressions are generated when the GMB panel indicates that the user is trying to find your particular business or that you are the only competitor in your city. Direct impressions also count if your GMM profile appears when searching for your company name and address.

A phone call is how many times customers call your company outside of your GMB list. The Total Call Chart helps you display the time of day, day and week that customers have called your company. This information is great to know what people are looking for in your listing because you can target these times with the most ads and social posts.

The insights section provide a line chart that allows you to click on the points assigned to each month to see how many people interacted with your GMB page. Depending on the features you want to see in your listings, the Customer Promotions section can track the number of customers who have visited your site, directions to your location, calls or notifications. What makes this section important is that it gives you the ability to track actions that you find important.
